Scoutmaster's Corner
2010 is in full swing and the troop scheduled opportunities to hike are dwindling fast. As of this writing there are 4 more Day hikes and 4 more overnight trips scheduled before Summer Camp and the Colorado trip. No one should be surprised about this……I have been talking about the Colorado trip since BEFORE the 2009 Kayaking trip was completed.
If YOU signed up for this trip then YOU own the responsibility to be exercising, working out, losing weight, building muscle, hiking, etc. If YOU cannot make trips then YOU need to make plans with your parents to schedule another hike (on the 2nd or 4th weekend) for the troop take advantage. YOU need to review your school, sports or family schedule and compare it to the normal 1st or 3rd weekend dates for any potential conflicts.
If you signed up then say it, mean it and do it!! Every adult and scout MUST do their part to be prepared and safe on this adventure. Do not pretend to be surprised when I ask for your exercise chart, your plan for participation, ask you to meet with the committee to explain your lack of participation, etc, etc.
If you want to go on this trip then start completing the prep work required to get ready.
P.S. Summer camp is in DESPARATE need for adults to step up and lead the event. This may jeopardize the Colorado trip.
See you on the RUGGED ROAD!
